2. About Malaria
★ Malaria is a female mosquito-borne infectious disease.
★ Over the past few years, it has been a deadly epidemic that has taken many lives,
especially those in southern Africa, with deaths accounting to 1 million people in 2008.
★ This is due to the hot and usually dry climate in Africa, where droughts often happen,
with temperatures reaching 40 degrees celsius.
★ Majority of these deaths were children with an age of not above five. This is because
young children have not yet established any immunity against such a dangerous
disease.
