have given his name to the Aeolian Islands, howev-
er they were born from fire. On our tour* around the
archipelago’s largest island we will constantly be
seeing impressive volcanic landscapes.
Lift anchor: 13.00 hours
In the evening the SEA CLOUD will cruise off
Stromboli. This is the best time of day to observe its
volcanic activity.
Agropoli/Italy Sun., 30th Aug.
Drop anchor: 08.00 hours. Agropoli was already a pop-
ular anchorage as far back as ancient times. Our excur-
sion* will take us to a Doric gem and to a fresh delica-
cy: we will be visiting the excavation site of Paestum,
the Greek Poseidonia, and a buffalo farm to see where
genuine mozzarella is made; a true delicacy.
Lift anchor: 13.00 hours
In the afternoon the SEA CLOUD will sail just off the
famous Amalfi coast.
Capri/Italy Mon., 31st Aug.
Drop anchor: 08.00 hours. Capri was considered to
be a special natural gem as early as Roman times
and became the summer residence of Emperor
Tiberius. On an independent tour of exploration you
will be able to discover the island’s many charms
from many different perspectives.
Lift anchor: 13.00 hours
Sorrento/Italy
Drop anchor: 17.00 hours. Sorrento was already
charming Roman aristocrats in ancient times, not to
mention Goethe and other artistic souls. An evening
stroll through the narrow streets and along the har-
bour, when the sun picturesquely celebrates its set-
ting, is the best time to experience the town’s charm
and magic.
Sorrento/Italy Tue., 1st Sept.
Pompeii, once a bustling trading city, lay at the foot
of Vesuvius, the landmark of the Gulf of Naples. In
79 AD the volcano put a sudden end to Pompeii. The
destination of our excursion* today will be the ruins
of the city, one of Europe’s most impressive archae-
ological sites. Lift anchor: 13.30 hours
Ponza/Italy Wed., 2nd Sept.
Drop anchor: 08.00 hours. The small island of Ponza
is actually nothing more than the narrow ridge of an
old volcanic crater. Those who wish can stroll
through the attractive main village or discover part
of the island independently. Lift anchor: 13.00

Sicilian impressions:
Malta – Malta
La Valletta/Malta Mon., 12th Oct.
Individual arrival in Malta. Embarkation on the SEA
CLOUD. Departure: 18.00 hours
At Sea Tue., 13th Oct.
The southern October sun bathes the world in a mild
light. All hands are on deck. We hear the sound of
orders being made. Everyone works hand in hand.
Your deck chair will become an observation post for
the most enjoyable job of all on a nostalgic tall ship:
setting the sails.
Trapani/Sicily Wed., 14th Oct.
Arrival: 08.00 hours. The destination of our excur-
sion, Erice*, a medieval hill town located on a hilltop
not far from Trapani, looks out over the countryside
and the sea. Its first heyday was in ancient times; it
became rich in the Middle Ages; today it seems to
have cut adrift of time. Departure: 13.30 hours
Palermo/Sicily Thu., 15th Oct.
Arrival: 08.00 hours. On a tour* around the Sicilian cap-
ital you will see many fortified noblemen’s palaces;
beautifully adorned art nouveau houses and churches
in the Arabesque-Norman style. Great history intermin-
gles with everyday stories in baroque squares, the mar-
kets and the streets and alleys. Departure: 13.30 hours
Lipari/Aeolian Islands Fri., 16th Oct.
Drop anchor: 08.00 hours. On a tour of the island*
you will see proof of Nature’s formative powers
everywhere: water and fire. The volcano is long
extinct; only the sea still eats away at the island, cre-
ating impressive rugged coastlines.
Lift anchor: 13.00 hours
Naxos (Taormina)/Sicily Sat., 17th Oct.
Drop anchor: 08.00 hours. Our visit to Mount Etna*
today will take the form of a jeep safari to Europe’s
largest active volcano. It has four summit craters and
some 400 auxiliary craters. The ascent is particularly
exciting, taking us first through fertile orchards and
vineyards and then into deciduous woodland. The
landscape then becomes increasingly sparse and
bizarre, resembling a surreal painting of genesis.
Lift anchor: 18.00 hours
Syracuse/Sicily Sun., 18th Oct.
Arrival: 08.00 hours. Syracuse’s oldest quarter, Ortigia,

Casablanca – Las Palmas
Casablanca/Morocco Sun., 8th Nov.
Individual arrival in Casablanca. Embarkation on
the SEA CLOUD. Departure: 18.00 hours
At Sea Mon., 9th Nov.
The SEA CLOUD will cruise across a sea where the

merse yourself in a book. Lively groups seem to find
each other instinctively. And those who turn their
attention to our windjammer will discover many
new details of a legendary life on board.
Arrecife/Lanzarote Wed., 11th Nov.
Arrival: 08.00 hours. Lanzarote has rightly earned
the sobriquet ‘Island of Fire’. It has been continually
remodelled by volcanic eruptions. On our excursion*
through the bizarre landscape we will be experienc-
ing rural life at the El Patio museum village. There
will also be the option of attending a private
evening concert in the lava bubble caves of Jameos
del Agua*. Departure: 24.00 hours
Puerto del Rosario/Fuerteventura Thu., 12th Nov.
Arrival: 08.00 hours. Fuerteventura’s landscape is
slightly reminiscent of North Africa’s fascinating
deserts, so our Jeep safari* is exactly the right mode
of transport for a tour of discovery.
Departure: 13.00 hours
Santa Cruz/Tenerife Fri., 13th Nov.
Arrival: 09.00 hours. Tenerife’s natural landmark is
already visible from the far distance: the Teide. Its
peak, Spain’s highest, is often shrouded in mist. Our

at the foot of the Teide volcano*. The park is a high
plain surrounded by a ring of steep cliffs – the
remainder of a gigantic volcanic crater.

Santa Cruz/La Palma Sat., 14th Nov.
Drop anchor: 13.30 hours. One of the world’s lar-

a cliff top fortress in the middle of the Atlantic. The
highlight of our island tour through sparse moun-
tains and green and fertile valleys will be our visit to
Garajonay National Park*, a cloud forest area. Im-
pressive laurel and fern trees, overgrown with moss-

Las Palmas/Gran Canaria Sat., 21st Nov.
Individual arrival in Las Palmas. Embarkation on the
SEA CLOUD. Departure: 18.00 hours
Santa Cruz/La Palma Sun., 22nd Nov.
Arrival: 13.30 hours. Caldera de Taburiente* is one of

Arrival: 08.00 hours. On our tour of the island we will
be visiting Garajonay National Park*, which covers
approximately one-tenth of the island’s surface. It is
under UNESCO protection and is considered to be
the archipelago’s most attractive laurel forest. The
atmosphere is fairy-tale like, with the trees over-
grown with mosses and lichens, and will take us back
to a landscape which existed long before our time. To
be more exact: to the Miocene era which ended some
5 million years ago. Departure: 14.00 hours
At Sea Tue., 24th Nov.
The white trade wind clouds which seem to gather

seemingly given wings by the trade winds.
Arrecife/Lanzarote Wed., 25th Nov.
