Notes
1. Notes/Extra Information
The Brazilian Scientific Mobility Program (BSMP) *formerly known as
the Science without Borders Program
• Provides scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students from Brazil
to study at colleges/universities in United States for year, and then they
return to home country to complete degree.
• Scholarships awarded in Science, Technology, Engineering, and
Mathematics (STEM)
• It seems to be that more undergraduates enroll in program than graduates
• The ultimate goal is to grant 100,000 scholarships to Brazilian Students to
study fields incorporated in STEM.
• Thanks to this program devised by the U.S. and Brazilian liaison, a
significant increase in these majors. In fact, there hasn’t been this large of an
increase since the 1960’s and 70’s when Brazilian government funded PhD
study abroad program in agricultural research, oil exploration and aviation.
