Pre-Employment Transition Services are free services provided by the University of Missouri to help students ages 16-21 with disabilities explore career options and develop skills for education and employment. The services include job exploration, work-based learning experiences, counseling for post-secondary education, workplace readiness training, and instruction in self-advocacy. Activities may include mock interviews, career assessments, exploring local jobs, researching education requirements, and developing self-advocacy skills. The goal is to help students successfully transition from high school to further education and employment.
This presentation provides an overview of the transition planning process for youth with disabilities IEPs. Transition planning is an on-going process that begins at age 14 to prepare students with disabilities for life after high school. It requires planning, skill development, and network support.
