Name: Lakshmi Prakash
Current job: Working as Sub-editor at City Today Newspaper office. This is a Mysuru based
newspaper, the reporters send stories from Mysuru and I edit about seven stories in a day. I
check the grammar, correct sentence formation, elaborate stories if needed, or cut down the
stories if needed, edit the stories according to the style sheet, provide suitable headlines, spell
check, use easy English words so that common people can understand easily, and meet deadlines
as the edition should be completed by 1 pm.
Previous to this was working as a Journalist (stringer) at Times of India, Mysuru branch. As a
reporter I would collect reports find out the basic five W’s (What, Where, When, Why, Whom)
and one H (How) along with other information. I have written stories based on education, arts,
and other regular topics.
Previous to this was working as Sub-editor at Real Estate Reporter Magazine. It is property
business related magazine where the reporters would mail the stories and I would edit the whole
magazine (about 60 articles) as I was the in-charge of the magazine. I would check the grammar,
spell check, correct sentence formation, edit the stories according to the style sheet, use easy
English words so that common people can understand easily, and provide suitable headlines.
Previous to this I was working as internee designer and intern reporter at the designing and
reporting department at Bangalore Mirror English daily newspaper on regular topics and have
learnt basics of Quark Express and Adobe Photoshop software’s. I was a beginner and started my
job career from here and have learnt many aspects.
