The poem expresses the writer's excitement for summer and their plans to spend time with their romantic interest. They hope to get a summer job to occupy their time and earn money, while still having afternoons free to go on drives and sing songs with their partner. The writer imagines their summer being filled with fun adventures together.
2. SUMMER 2011
(Emotion = excited! :))
Summer is coming fast,
And I want it to last.
As long as I’m with him,
I won’t be grim,
Or sad or tired
I hope I get hired.
A summer job;
May sound like a rob,
Of my time to play,
But I’ll have all day.
‘cause I wanna waste my time away,
In his sweet embrace.
I know we’ll go far,
As far as the stars.
I’ll be sittin’ in his car,
As we drive on adventures .
And we’ll be laughin’ and smilin’,
As he keeps on drivin’.
Until we turn on the radio,
As loud as it can go.
And belt out our favorite songs,
Until the day is long gone.
3. NONSENSE
Ollie the octopus ate a banana.
And Lily the leopard wore a bandana.
Juju had fun looking at the sea.
Maggie was tall like a redwood tree.
Gregory jumped over a fence.
Karolina is just too DENSE.
All these things don’t seem like much,
But really you don’t understand such.
4. ODE TO NATURE
See what nature has in store
The mother of the out doors
Beautiful flowers blooming in the meadow
Butterflies flying see how high they go
See the sun peak through the leaves
Soft grass swaying like the trees
The clouds are fun shapes shifting though the sky
I sometimes envy the birds that fly
The dirt and mud is not so much fun
But Mother Nature’s open to everyone.
5. RHYTHM
Won’t you stay with me tonight?
I know we had another fight.
But it can wait until the light,
Be happy please I wish you might.
6. LIMERICK
The fight was hurtful and so long,
She couldn’t even sing a song.
She’s dreading the day,
That he will not stay.
Because it was terribly wrong.
