Major: Biology (Pre-Med) Minor: Biochemistry
GPA: 3.98/4.0
Anticipated Graduation: May, 2016
Diploma: Pennfield High School, Battle Creek MI
GPA: 3.95/4.0 Graduated 6/12 with honors
Battle Creek Area Mathematics and Science Center
Graduated 6/12, an accelerated mathematics and science school that I attended half of the day all
four years of high school.A completion stamp was put on my diploma.
Science Experience:
• Lab Shadowing at IUPUI Regenerative Biology (December 2014)
During winter break, I was introduced to the lab techniques used by Dr. Jason Meyer’s lab that focuses on the use
of human induced pluripotent stemcells for the study of nervous systemdevelopment and disease. The techniques I
learned included, immunocytochemistry of cultured cell plates for transcription factors, stemcell culturing, retinal stem
cell picking, and maxi-preps. I will be continuing work in their lab this summer as a research intern.
• University of Oxford Study Abroad in Genetics (May ’14- June ’14)
I was an associate member of New College at the University of Oxford. I completed a tutorial in Genetics with Dr.
Aziz Aboobaker. My tutorial focused on next generation sequencing technologies, epigenetics, genome engineering,
and induced pluripotent stem cells. My tutorranked my work to be among the strongest ofOxford students.
• Teaching Assistant for Organic Chemistry (August ’15-present)
I assist in a section of Organic Chemistry lab by making sure students can prepare and complete each lab successfully
and with correct technique.
• Science Tutor (August ’14-present)
I hold tutoring sessions three times a week to assist students in any science courses at Olivet.
Work Experience:
Research Intern, IUPUI Department of Biology, Meyer Lab (May ’15-August ’15)
During the summer I worked in Dr. Jason Meyer’s lab which focuses on the use of induced pluripotent stemcells for
studies of nervous systemdevelopment and disease.I completed a summer research project which studied the ability of
human pluripotent stemcells to give rise to retinal phenotypes through a predicted step wise differentiation process
closely mimicking what is known about retinogenesis. At the end of the summer I participated in a research day pos ter
session where I presented my research to numerous individuals.
• Pro Shop, Marywood Golf Club (April ’14-September ’14)
• Assistant Coach, The First Tee of Battle Creek (May ’11-August ’13)
