The Sensors
• TRM-CC Series Probes:
• Detect: Crude Oil, Gas Condensates, Diesel, Gasoline, Jet Fuel
• Ignore: Fuel vapors, natural gas, water & brine
• TRM-CB Series Probes:
• Detect: Crude Oil & Oil Field Brine (produced water)
• Ignore: Rain, snow melt, most surface water sources
• TRM-DFS Series Flat Surface Detectors:
• Detect: Diesel fuel leaking from indoor fuel tanks, pumps, filters, etc.
• Ignore: Condensation, Damp Floors, mop water, etc.
TRM-CC Series
Detection via resistive changes
(conductive polymer film technology)
No internal circuitry other than wiring
connections
SS316 Stainless Steel Body: ¾” x 4” pipe
nipple threaded on both ends
SS316 Stainless Steel Core Tube
Any length leader cable (2 m is standard)
Interior of body is encapsulated with
epoxy
Plastic mesh or stainless steel outer screen
options
TRM-CC Series
Standard probe lengths for plastic
screen option are 1”, 3”, 6”, 9”, and
18” (25mm , 75mm, 150mm, 225mm
and 450 mm)
Mount via U-bolt fitting and uni-strut or
similar frame
Minimum detectable depth about 5 mm
for flat surface, but probe can be placed
in a shallow well for reduced minimum
detection depth.
TRM-CC Series
Stainless Steel (SS316) protective
screen option for better impact
protection
Standard lengths are 9” and 35”
TRM-CC Probes – Applications
• Leaking crude oil, gas condensates or fuel detection in wet or dry
sumps
• Monitoring of containment perimeters for pump pads, valve
manifolds, underground tank vaults, oil well-head cellars, etc.
• Monitoring bermed areas around above ground storage tanks
• Monitoring storm water out-flow drains
• Unique 35” probe height can detect very thin layers of fuel floating on
the surface of storm water up to 34” (860 mm) of water
accumulation
• No float assembly or moving parts – anti-sheen rings available
TRM-CB Series
Combination – Crude and Brine
sensor.
Designed for oil field and crude oil
storage applications
Does not react to rain water, snow
melt, or other low salinity water
sources.
Tri-axial construction combines
crude oil and brine detection in a
single probe
Designed to fit PVC T-Traps
positioned at the edge of small
diameter oil field tanks.
TRM-CB Series
Special variant for well-head and
insulated pipe monitoring .
Recessed electrodes are protected from
mechanical damage.
New construction or retro-fit
installation by threading into
containment chambers or the underside
of an insulated pipe
Passive resistive network at connection
point allows this sensor to emulate a
PT1000 RTD
DFS-2 – Wireless
Diesel Fuel Sensors
Detects diesel fuel leaks for indoor
applications (e.g. emergency
generators)
Rests flat on floors, drip pans, dry
sumps or other surfaces
Each sensor/transmitter is battery
powered by coin cell battery (~1 year
life)
Owner receives SMS text message
report of leak detection within about 30
seconds of initial fuel contact
No tools, no wires, no control panel!
DFS-3 – Hard Wired
Diesel Fuel Sensors
Indoor diesel fuel leak detection
Sensors can be directly monitored from
a PLC or similar BMS digital input as a
“Dry Contact” input
CLOSED Contact = No LEAK
OPEN Contact= LEAK DETECTED
(or disconnected sensor)
Responds within 10 seconds to diesel,
gasoline, jet fuel, crude oil and similar
liquid hydrocarbons.
Interface Options:
1. TRM Relay Unit Type-C
• 12 Vdc < 1W
• Single Form-C relay to indicate leak detected
• (Brine or Hydrocarbon / Brine Only / Hydrocarbon Only)
• Low cost
2. TraceTek* adapter – Uses micro power taken from TT-SIM,
TT-FLASHER or TTC-1 to monitor probe and to signal “leak detected” to TT instrument
3. Direct to PLC as dry contact input signal
• DFS-3 and short probes only
4. PT1000 RTD emulation
