2. Our Program
Upstander Skills:
Children are often admonished to “Be an UPstander not a bystander.” Our program helps them to: Learn
skills to spot problems that may not be obvious; Analyze obstacles to action; Practice specific skill that
research shows to be most effective.
Gender Diversity:
Children will often divide into groups based on sex/gender. Statements such as, "That's a girls game"
"Blue is a boy's color", "Girls can't play that sport" help to cause this divide. We aim to teach children that
these stereotypes are untrue and show children how they can overlap.
Personal Strengths/Disabilities Awareness:
In order to be an “UpStander” and help others, we need to feel confident & empowered!
You should know your strengths and identify things you excel at. Teaches children to recognizes other
children's differences and promote acceptance. Then we can use these strengths & your confidence to be
Upstanders for not only yourself but your classmates as well.

Kidsbridge activities focus on fundamental skills necessary to promote positive actions.
Games, role­play, and arts activities allow students to discover new ways of thinking about diversity,
problem solving and accessing support.
Kidsbridge programs acknowledge that students live in multiple environments with varying social norms,
including at home, at school and within peer groups. We aspire to address the problem that “character
education ends at the school door.”
Cyber­Bullying:
The internet is not the problem. It's that children are using social media in
negative ways instead of positive ways. My goal is to discuss social media
and the ways it is used for cyber bullying and show children how it can be
used to help each other and empower one another. We are not focusing on
the dangers of the internet or the safety concerns, but rather teaching
children how to use it in a constructive way.
