Leadership Philosophy Part 3
My personal business leadership philosophy revolves around my morals and
hope to better the world around me. Something that is incredibly important to me
is the way I treat other people. Whether a person is of a different race, age, gender,
ethnicity, or socio-economic class, I will always treat them with utmost respect.
With that in mind, I would hope that others would treat me the same way. I will
always do my best to help everyone I come in contact with, and ensure that they feel
comfortable and safe talking to me about any topic needed to be discussed. Honesty
will always be presented in all aspect of work and life and I will always be truthful to
ensure that no one ever feels wronged or betrayed. Another personal value is
ensuring that every job we do, everything we discuss, and every plan we make will
be for the betterment of society, the community around us, and the people we work
with.
As a leader, I will promote positivity and ingenuity. All opinions and
suggestions will be heard with an open mind. I will work diligently to ensure all
projects are completed correctly and on time. Being tasked to lead a team means
using all of my skills while encouraging others to do the same. I would expect that
everyone on my team treats each other with respect and opens their minds to other
ideas. With the hope of a cohesive team, everyone would need to ensure that their
focus is fully on the task at hand. They would also need to ensure that everyone is
giving their best effort in order to contribute to the better of the team.
I will never tolerate disrespect. I never want anyone on my team to feel
uncomfortable or violated while in the workplace. My team will always be held to
high levels of respect, honesty, and honor while working with me in the hopes that it
will translate into the rest of their lives. As a leader I will expect timeliness, quality
work, and all effort to be put forth by all members to ensure the best possible
outcome. As a team we will prioritize cohesiveness, accountability, and respect.
Connection to CoBE Mission Statement and Student Honor Code
My personal leadership philosophy parallels the mission statement of the
College of Business and Economics and the Student Honor Code of UW-Whitewater
in many ways. There proves to be an emphasis on holding oneself to a high level of
respect, honesty, and quality work. All work should strive to exceed expectations
and work towards the betterment of those directly and indirectly impacted by it.
Diversity and participation is emphasized and encouraged in both my leadership
philosophy and the Student Honor Code. Although the Mission Statement and
Honor Code are directed towards students at UW-Whitewater, the way people act in
accordance to those will follow them as they enter the workplace in the future. I
hope that they choose to act with integrity and respect wherever their paths may
take them after college.
Personal Code of Ethics
As a future business leader, my personal code of ethics encompasses a wide
variety of characteristics. It is based on honesty, respect, integrity, compassion,
leadership, communication, hard work, critical thinking, acceptance, and open-
mindedness. Each of these will positively affect my role in the workplace as I apply
each of these characteristics to not only my job, but also my everyday life. Using this
code of ethics, I will become a responsible businesswoman as well as a caring and
hard working member of society.
Code of Ethics: “I will…”
1. Respect the differences among a diverse group of people and acknowledge
that all information brought forth is valuable and should be heard.
2. Encourage open-mindedness knowing that all opinions and ideas are
brought into conversation in the hopes of application in the workplace.
3. Hold myself to a high level of honor and integrity from myself in order to
ensure an open and safe community.
4. Take responsibility for my own words and actions.
5. Commit myself to bettering myself and those I encounter everyday.
6. Maintain a strong communication between myself and coworkers to
decrease misunderstandings and increase productivity.
7. Approach conflicts with an open mind and positive attitude.
8. Promote positivity and compassion among all members of the workplace.
9. Complete tasks on time and with quality work.
