Droughts can occur during any season of the year but are more common in the summer months. Droughts are caused by a lack of rain over an extended period of time. To prevent droughts, conservation methods like using less water and planting drought-resistant plants can be used. A drought is a prolonged period with little to no rain that can damage crops and cause water shortages.

Our questionsWhat time of year does a droughts usually occur? How you can prevent a drought? What causes a drought? What is a drought?
What time of year does a droughts usually occur? Droughts can occur at any time of year. A drought is measured over a long period of time. Some areas that receive their rainfall in winter may experience drought in the following summer if falls are below average, while it would be opposite for those who experience main rainfalls in summer.
It is very difficult to prevent droughts, usually because they are caused by lack of rainfall, which is beyond our control. However, you can save water so that a little bit goes a long way and that there is enough for you and for everybody else. You can stop washing the car and watering the lawn , as well as taking shorter showers and cutting back on unnecessary water use. You can also re-use and recycle water, such as using the water you showered with to water the lawn.
What causes a drought? Droughts are caused by lack of rain over a long period of time. If rain does occur it usually isn't enough for the ground to absorb before it is evaporated again. Plants and animals need water to survive, so if there is not enough water they will eventually die from thirst and dehydration. Water is one of the main ingredients in the food chain. Most droughts tend to occur during summer, as the weather is hot and water is quickly evaporated. Droughts can last for years in most extreme cases. These types of droughts effect outback properties and can devastate crops and livestock. However, many crops are effected. If a farmer has lost his crop due to drought then he will get no money to pay for the next seasonal crop.
What's a drought? Most of us think of it as “no rainfall", but it's not that simple. Drought is when you have less rainfall than you expected over an a long time, usually several months or longer. Drought is a normal part of climate, and it can occur almost anywhere on earth. For example, Arizona and Maine have very different climates, but drought occurs in both states. Drought's features and effects vary from place to place because of different environmental features and cultures, which affect how people use water. If you are a farmer, drought means that you do not have enough water in the soil for crops to grow normally or for pastures to produce enough grass for livestock. some farmers rely on irrigation to produce their crops. If you live in a city, drought may result in a shortage of water for watering grass, trees, and other plants. Often during drought, people in cities are asked to save water used inside the home and outside. Have you ever been asked to save water?
