Mr Ceesay, date of birth 10/15/1987, completed an internship with the project Sino-German
Environmental Partnership in Beijing from 3/3/2015 to 8/28/2015 as part of international
cooperation between the German Federal Republic and its partner countries.
The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH is a federal
enterprise with worldwide operations. We support the German Government in the fields of
international cooperation for sustainable development and international education. Through our
work we assist people and societies in shaping their own future and improving living conditions..
GIZ‟s foreign internship programme aims to enable students who have already completed a
substantial part of their university course to gain an insight into GIZ‟s work and its instruments.
One of the objectives in this context is to identify promising international cooperation staff from
the programme‟s participants.
Mr Cessay‟s tasks as an intern included among other things:
 Research and work on content
 Targeted research, textual and graphic design as well as the processing of
information for presentations and articles in the following areas:
o Writing of a briefing about the rule of law in China
o Presentation and a short research paper about China‟s “One Belt, One Road”
initative
o Assisting in the preparation of a presentation about the Sustainable Development
Goals of the United Nations
o Participating in the GIZ„s internal newsletter (Politmonitor) mainly covering issues
related to new developments within the Chinese-German and Chinese-European
relations.
o Making of background information, for instance about urbanization and
environmental finance in China, for delegations and study tours
o Support of organizational preparation and postprocessing of activities with
Chinese partner instiutions
 Public relations
 Taking care of the projects internal website
 Independent elaboration of the monthly newsletter on environmental topics for the
Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear
Safety (BMUB)
 Representation of the project at international conferences

We hereby certify that Mr. Ceesay has successfully completed an internship at the GIZ Sino-
German Environmental Partnership Project. During the course of his internship, Mr. Ceesay was
able to deepen his existing knowledge of international development cooperation. His previous
academic and practical experiences and the intensive research within the project helped Mr.
Ceesay to develop a profound understanding of the relevant project topics. Mr Ceesay grasped
new concepts quickly and accepted constructive criticism and instructions concerning his work.
Every aspect of his work was carried out to the highest possible standard and his performance
was at any time efficient, precise and solution-oriented. Mr Ceesay consistently produced high
quality work in a timely fashion. We further would like to mention his excellent English and
Chinese language communication skills. His friendly attitude and his ability to cooperate with his
Chinese and German colleagues qualifies him for work in an intercultural team. His pleasant
manner made him popular with the rest of the staff.
