1. FOOD YIELD AND NEEDS
I discovered through this exercise that on a pound-for-pound
basis, I consume a lot less food than I thought that I did! The
meals my boyfriend and I make feed us well and usually provide
us with leftovers, but the numbers still aren’t that impressive. I
think our average per-pound numbers are low because we eat
very seasonally, meaning that a significant amount of the produce
we eat is consumed for only 13-30 weeks out of the year.
The fact that the majority of the vegetables we eat require less
than half of a 100 square-food bed means I can certainly grow a
multitude of produce to supplement what we buy from the
grocery store in my small plot!
