2. Point
• That Cornish people are less intelligent than
Londoners.
• Londoners can be more professional when it
comes to work and Cornish people are the
opposite.
3. CAMSAMC
• Close up shot = is used to show his facial
expression when he talking to the plumbers
which implies that he is judging them.
• Composition = Plumbers are on the floor while
DOC Martin is standing up this shows that he is
Dominant and Important.
• High angles = is used when he enters the room to
show that the workers are inferior.
• Low angles = is also used when he enters the
room to show that DOC Martin is superior.
4. Editing
• Shot reverse shot = is used when DOC Martin
is telling the people what to do and this allows
us to see the contrast between Cornish people
and Londoners.
• Continuity editing = is used throughout the
whole of the clip and this shows realism.
5. Sound
• Dialogue = DOC Martin’s accent portrays him as upper
class and well spoken where as the plumbers accents
are a lot more common to the region and makes them
seem less intelligent. Also, at the beginning DOC
Martin asks about the local slang which suggest that he
is well educated and that he is alienated from local life.
• Non diegetic = This suggests that there is tension when
DOC Martin looks at the local teacher this is confirmed
when the vegetable seller says that he has been sulking
because he has not had a successful meeting with her
this reinforces the fact that even middle class workers
can not get along with each other just because they are
from different regions.
6. Mise-en-scene
• Facial expression = His facial expression when
talking to the people at his surgery and it shows
that he is a serious man.
• Costume = DOC Martin is wearing a suit and this
shows that he is from the upper class and is well
educated.
• Gesture codes = Because the old man was sitting
down this shows that he Is lazy which reinforces
that Cornish people are not professional when it
comes to work.
