I’m Kari Middleton Hendrix.
I’d like to share with you some of my experience witheducation:
 First 5 Riverside County - Children and Families Commission Riverside County -Advisory
Committee Member, State Delegate Spring 2016, & Audit Committee
This Committee is charged with advising the Commission in allocating county funds from
Proposition 10, the Tobacco Tax. The Tax benefits early childhood development resources,
healthcare including dental and services to ensure children are ready for school such as Head Start.
Delegate to Sacramento Spring 2016 for First 5 California to meet with legislators on issues such as
funding pre-K for all 4 year olds across the state regardless of zip code.
 Palm Springs Unified School District - Advisory Board & Citizen’s Oversight Committee on
Bond Expenditures
Board oversees bond issues for the entire district specifically spent on facilities management and
expansion. Current projects include the Palm Springs High School auditorium, Agua Caliente
Elementary remodel, and Raymond Cree HVAC systems.
 Desert Arc - Board of Directors
Helping adults with disabilities find opportunities in employment, independent living, and social
events. My Board activities included Fund Development Committee Chair, Audit Committee,
Executive Committee Member, and Board Secretary over the last 7 years.
 Desert Sands Unified School District Education Foundation - Board of Directors & Grant
Procurement Co-Chair
Focused on the "Bring your own Device" initiative of the District. Worked on several grant requests
and fundraising events including the Hike for Education and holiday time fundraiser. My goal was to
locate and procure grants to bring technology to every student in the classroom. Attended
California Consortium of Foundations.
 University of California -Legislative Advocate, Sacramento
Legislative Advocate for all ten campuses of the University of California system. Instrumental in
agreement between Governor Schwarzenegger and UC concerning state funding cuts and continual
tuition increases during “Great Recession” helping middle class families plan for rising tuition.
 Graduate of Cathedral City Elementary, Nellie Coffman Middle, and Palm Springs High School.
 Child in District Elementary school.
 Mother- in- law taught over 25 years at Vista Del Monte Elementary.
 First from family to graduate from college.
