To Whom It May Concern:
It is with great enthusiasm that I write to offer my recommendation on behalf of Julianna Beaver for this
fantastic internship opportunity. In my prior role as a Residence Director at Bentley University, I was
charged with overseeing a dynamic and multifaceted conglomerate of buildings on campus comprised of
mostly sophomores and juniors. As many of my Resident Assistant (RA) staff prepared to leave campus
for a study abroad experience, I was charged with rehiring for their vacant positions. It takes a special kind
of student to be a RA and an even more remarkable student to take on the position in the middle of the
academic year. Julianna came into the position with ease, exhibiting an impressive degree of determination
and self-assurance. I had the pleasure of supervising her from January of this year until the summer. Now,
in my new role at Bentley, I am charged with overseeing a larger portion of the campus residence halls and
it is my distinct pleasure to have kept Julianna in my area.
As a Resident Assistant, Julianna began the position with a unique group of students. Julianna began her
work with us in one of our Living Learning Programs themed around wellness. She was charged with
programming and engaging her residents around various topics of wellness and holistic wellbeing. She
catered her approach and programming to her resident’s interests and thought carefully about how to
engage them in meaningful ways. This year, what has impressed me most is Julianna’s impressive level of
growth. In just one semester, Julianna went from being a new, relatively quiet staff member, to a stand out
leader on her team. She has helped mentor the new RAs hired to her staff and maintained her unabashed
and infectious sense of humor.
In addition to her exemplary performance in the RA position, I am further impressed with Julianna’s ability
to balance multiple leadership positions on campus. Julianna serves as a First Year Seminar Peer
Facilitator, a prestigious and incredibly competitive student leadership position on our campus. In this
capacity she works with a staff member teaching a transition to college course to approximately 25 of our
first year students. And if you do not see Julianna in the classroom or programming for her residents, you
certainly see her leading wide eyed prospective students around campus in her role as an Undergraduate
Admissions tour guide. Where she finds time to maintain an impressive GPA given all of her leadership
positions on campus remains a mystery.
Though I could go on and on about the impact and influence I think Julianna has had on campus in her time
at Bentley, I will end with this. In the time that I have known Julianna, I have been impressed by her
dedication, compassion, and sense of humor. I am more than willing to speak further about her
contributions to the Bentley community should you need any additional information.
