KIPP Denver Collegiate High School
Ranks #9 in Colorado
On its 2015 Best High Schools list, U.S. News & World Report
ranked KIPP Denver Collegiate High School (KDC) as ninth
among all public high schools in Colorado. Among the top ten
schools in Colorado, KDC is the only high school serving a high
population of students from low-income backgrounds. We are
extremely proud of our KDC students and staff for transforming
opportunities for students every day.

discovered Southern Colorado
on their year-end trip to Mesa
Verde and Durango. The Class
of 2021 hiked, explored, and
even climbing into a kiva in a
cliff dwelling at Mesa Verde
National Park!
KIPP Sunshine Peak Academy
sixth graders visited Utah on
their year-end trip, where they
camped in Arches and Zion
national parks, white water
rafted and swam in the
Colorado River, and explored
narrow the trenches of the
Virgin River.
By the end of these trips, there
were many tired KIPPsters with
amazing experiences to wrap
up the school year!

Thank you to the
more than 230
education and

who attended the
Growing Minds
Luncheon and
made this
inaugural event a
huge success.
With your
support, we exceeded our fundraising goal to support our

Teacher Spotlight: Phil Munsterman
Phil teaches algebra and statistics and is the math
department chair at KIPP Denver Collegiate High School
(KDC).
For some math
teachers, the
lessons stop at
numbers and
formulas. Not for
Phil Munsterman,
who was one of 9
teachers statewide
to receive the
9Teachers Who Care award from 9NEWS. He's made it his
mission to partner with students and families to empower them
to pursue their dreams. With 95 percent of KDC students
eligible for free or reduced price lunch, Phil knows many of them
have not had an easy time in life. He believes deeply in what his
students can accomplish with the right support system, and he
says his students' desire to be the best rubs off on him.
Award winners were nominated by colleagues, friends, parents,
and students for excellence in educating Colorado's children.
Watch his story here. Congratulations, Phil!
