When cyber bullying continues after high school
At George Mason University, we as students, experience a lot of stress and pressure to
ensure that success is the result of paying $20 thousand or $60 thousand a year, just to have the
piece of paper saying “congratulations you finished.” Throughout the experience, you probably
have witnessed someone or experienced yourself being bullied through social media or an
anonymous posting website so no one knows who said what. Many people think that this was left
in high school because it is “childish” or “immature.” However it still continues in college where
students are affected which causes issues that go beyond control.
In response to this, my Public Relations and Social Media class group created the
#WordsHurt campaign to start combating the use of cyber bullying on George Mason
University’s campus. We collected data through a Google poll and shared it through social media
accounts and email chains so that students can take this survey, so that we get accurate
information. After this reviewing this data, we decided to make a video that would speak to the
audience to get our point a crossed to the public of that words do hurt. We used words that
people were called and we wanted to show that it does happen and there are consequences to it.
