Joshua Hopper was a passionate student of music who took his instrument home every night to practice as the band director's student for two years of high school. He was reliable and able to play parts from memory when he forgot his music one time. The director recalls Joshua wanting to participate in every musical opportunity and helping the younger students even after the director retired. The director believes Joshua will be an asset to any school's music program as a teacher based on his talent and support from his wonderful family.
Student Musician Joshua Hopper Recommendation Letter
1. To Who It May Concern,
My relationship with Joshua Hopper is one of student and teacher. I was his band
director for his freshman and sophomore years.
Joshua is very passionate about music; he actually practiced and was one of the few
that took his instrument home every night. One time during band, I noticed him
making mistakes which wasn’t the norm for him. Later he admitted he had left his
music at home but was able to play most of it from memory! He didn’t want to tell me
for fear of disappointing me. We decided he could leave a set of parts at home and also
have one at school. Joshua wanted to try out for everything and take part of every
musical opportunity available and I always knew I could count on him for every
performance. If we were missing an instrument or a part I usually wrote it out for him
to play. Even after I retired from the high school, he would help me with the grade
school band by sitting in on rehearsals and helping with the younger students.
Students like Joshua are rare and I am so proud and happy to know that he wants
to take his talent as a musician and use it to teach. He comes from a wonderful family
that supports his desire to teach music. Joshua will have obstacles, what teacher
doesn’t, but he knows he has teachers and friends to help and support him.
Joshua would be an asset to any music department and I hope you will give him the
opportunity to musically expand the students in your school.
Sincerely,
Christine Vandre
