Editor's Notes

  1. Piracy is the illegal copying or downloading of a product such as software, music or movie without the permission of the creator or copyright owner .
  2. The act of recording a movie that is screened inside a theatre is not currently a criminal offence in Canada. Now the canadian government has introduced an Act to amend the Criminal Code (unauthorized recording of a motion picture) to stop movie piracy. the Criminal Code to create two offences: ‘the recording of a movie in a movie theatre without the consent of the theatre manager; recording of a movie in a movie theatre without the consent of the theatre manager for the purpose of selling, renting, or other commercial distribution of a copy of the recorded movie.’
  3. The us threatens to delay the showing of movies in Canada because of the films being recorded and sold on the internet , and profits for up to $100,000 for each work illegally sold or just downloaded In Australia there is no real law against piracy unless the product is being sold
  4. The US( particularly Hollywood) has threatened to stop advanced screenings in Canada to try and stop the Canadian praetors from stealing film footage. As a result Canada has come up with bill C-59 which will make “The recording of a movie in a movie theatre without the consent of the theatre's manager, punishable by up to two years in jail. The recording of a movie in a movie theatre without the consent of the theatre's manager for the purpose of selling, renting, or other commercial distribution of a copy of the recording, punishable by up to five years in jail.” But it hasn’t been made law yet
  5. Some companies felt a need to advertise the worlds piracy problem by newspaper or blog but we found some video you should see made by concerned businesses, and governments.
