I am pleased to provide this reference for Jon Liddell, who I have known as an MSc Student and
employed as a Research Assistant from 2014-16.
Jon is a highly capable and knowledgeable individual, with an ability to learn and develop which
enabled him to switch disciplines and successfully complete an MSc programme. His passion
for sustainability led to him finding time, during the intensive MSc programme, to complete
other projects and activities, including innovative work for Yorkshire Water, exploring how the
ideas of the circular economy might be applied in practice. He also displayed considerable
initiative in developing his research dissertation in the field of sustainability in the brewing
industry.
As a research assistant on a project which was funded by both private funders and research
councils, Jon had to produce outputs with both commercial and research value. He demonstrated
strong “client facing” skills in working with the project funders. He has a strong track record in
research and analysis, working with a variety of primary and secondary data sources.
Jon has strong project management skills and develops a clear structure and milestones in his
work. He works rigorously and systematically, questioning new information as it arises. He is
