- 1. Counteract odors
by placing boxes of
baking soda in the
refrigerator, pantry,
salad crisper and
freezer.
Wash grapes
to remove any sulfur
dioxide residue and
aroma. Most other
fruits do not need
to be washed before
refrigerating.
Wrap or seal produce
in bags or containers,
to make it less likely
they’ll absorb or emit
odors. Store fruits and
vegetables separately
in crisper drawers.
Rotate perishables
by using oldest
produce first. Avoid
storing fresh produce
longer than 10 days.
Proper storage of odor-absorbing or odor-emitting
food items helps reduce off-tastes in foods and
unpleasant aromas in your refrigerator.
