Military System Integration
The Problem
 Many Platforms – with varied integration requirements and potentially high integration costs
 Mission Agility – must respond to support troops in contact as well as the high care patient
 Rate, Range and Capacity of Movement – are widely varying but are always demanding
 Safety where possible, Responsiveness always, need to be Interoperable with partner forces
Light Weight - High Strength - Crashworthy
Enables traditional military aircraft integration
without modification – no engineering change
required
Strengthens original aircraft rack systems to
approach modern integrity
The Solution
A comprehensive system that meets contemporary
medical retrieval requirements and permits
battlefield, tactical and strategic patient repatriation
needs in all environments.
A significant advantage arises from the
interoperability and ongoing use of existing NATO
canvass canvas stretchers or the rapid integration of
this modern high performance system.
The system achieves modern crashworthiness
standards whilst being light weight and operationally
effective.

AMEng has developed its patented NATO Stretcher
Adapter to lock in wherever a standard NATO
stretcher can be fitted using either:
 Stretcher hand grip integration
 Stretcher feet lock integration
The Adapter achieves three simple outcomes:
 Integration into military aircraft capable of
carrying standard canvas stretchers is as
simple as snapping the Adapter into place
using already installed connectors
 Where the installed racking systems are
constrained or load limited due to limited
structural integrity, the Adapter adds integrity
and strength improvement that immediately
enhances safety
 The AMEng Composite Stretcher can then
just snap into place and immediately meet
high levels of crashworthiness
NO requirement to modify any aircraft that can already carry a military
stretcher – allowing ongoing use of NATO standard canvas stretchers

Design Highlights
Wide-mount platform rails mean easy use in low
light, poor visibility or noisy conditions
Rapid Transition between military and civilian
systems where required – the same stretcher can
be used in military and civilian uses; in ambulances,
F/W aircraft and in helicopters (ie. R/W aircraft).
Maximise force flexibility by using one stretcher
all the way from an incident or forward treatment
facility to the major health facility at sea or on land
Increase the speed of patient transition and
minimise risk to patients from transfer – clinical
equipment can be added and travel all the way with
the patient
Suitable for R/W or F/W aircraft - the use of
lightweight materials and efficient design means a
very low weight stretcher when compared to
equivalent strength stretchers elsewhere and for
R/W helicopter operations – low weight means
easier lifting and more fuel, payload or performance.
Safely carry demanding levels of clinical
equipment – all clinical equipment can be carried
on a purpose built bridge that can support the loads
to meet the functional demands of the clinicians and
modern crashworthiness structural standards
For additional Patient Life Support the readily
integrated AMEng Stretcher Base Unit carries a
self-contained supply of compressed oxygen and a
wide choice of electrical backup solutions – all this
whilst substantially reducing weight compared to
other equivalent systems – with enough oxygen for
the most demanding tactical mission and the ability
to reload spare bottles whilst in flight if required.

Integration into Large Wide-Body Aircraft for both military
and civilian purposes – the systems incorporates a snap-in
locking mechanism and racking designed specifically to
engage the standard seat rails and carry the same stretcher
either with:
 Brackets designed specifically for the AMEng Composite
Stretcher interface, or
 Brackets design to take the AMEng NATO Stretcher
Adapter,
 or Standard NATO type canvas stretchers.
Mobility at sea or on land can use either the AMEng purpose
built collapsible stretcher trolley for industrial and smooth
surfaces or the standard Army rough terrain trolley using the
AMEng NATO Stretcher Adapter.
