To Whom It May Concern:
It is with great pleasure that I am recommending John Bland to you. I am the National
Director of Project Vote Smart and had a unique perspective on John's internship with
our organization from October to December 2011.
In case you are unfamiliar with us, Project Vote Smart is a non-partisan, non-profit
political research organization. We provide relevant, factual and unbiased information
on elected officials and candidates throughout the country in categories including
voting records, issue positions, biographical and contact information, public
statements, campaign finance contributions, and special interest group ratings.
John worked in our Communications Department as an intern. He collected press
clippings, sent press releases and spoke with members of print, radio and television
media regarding Vote Smart and the VoteEasy interactive tool. He also performed
various administrative functions as well, such as maintaining a weekly schedule, an
up-to-date itinerary and acting as a secretary during development and communications
meetings. He also put together a comprehensive report regarding marketing and
business strategies Vote Smart could utilize in order to improve our content
presentation and current developmental plans. After completing a successful ten week
internship, we offered John a staff position with the possibility of promoting him to
Development Director.
John is a dedicated and dependable worker. He demonstrated excellent
communication skills and a remarkable ability to multi-task without becoming
overwhelmed. He exhibited great energy and enthusiasm in the office and as a result
was a lively addition to the office environment.
John's commitment to the mission of our organization was evident in all that he did.
He was motivated to go above and beyond what was required of him - all the while
maintaining a great attitude. These qualities make me confident that he will be
successful in any endeavor he wishes to pursue. It was a pleasure having John as an
intern, and I hope that you give him the opportunity to greatly contribute to
organization as he has certainly done for Project Vote Smart.
Sincerely,
Kristen Vicedomini
National Director
