4. When you get ready to
remove your final drive,
your first priority should
be to follow the
manufacturer’s
instructions.
We know, however,
that they aren’t always
handy – that’s why we
are going to provide
you with some tips on
how to safely remove
your final drive.

5. Here are some generic steps to guide you in
removing your final drive:
1. Remove the track
2. Loosen the sprocket bolts.
3. Remove the cover plate from the track motor – this will
be inside the undercarriage frame.
4. Your final drive is going to be a bit heavy – at least 100
pounds and probably more – so some type of a sling to
support it and hold it in place while you pull it out is
recommended. This is a good time to position the sling.

6. And continuing on …
5. Mark the hydraulic hoses so they can be easily
identified later.
6. Remove the hydraulic hoses and cap them, then plug
the ports on the track motor. This is necessary to keep
from contaminating the hydraulic system.
7. Remove the bolts that are securing your final drive to
the frame.
8. Swing out your final drive using the sling.

7. Here’s a few tips to help you get your drive ready to
ship – and don’t worry about your final drive being dirty
or caked with mud.
Preparing Your Drive

8. As mentioned earlier, make sure that all the hydraulic
ports are plugged. Next, you want the drive in one
piece, meaning not disassembled. We know that isn’t
always possible, so if you can’t ship it to us in one
piece then make sure the loose parts are bound
together and secured. A heavy duty plastic bag works
well for this purpose.

9. You don’t need to send us the sprocket. We also
recommend that you hang on to the fittings so they
don’t get misplaced during the teardown and inspection
process later on.

10. You might think that your best bet is a customized
wooden crate – but for shipping your final drive that
simply isn’t necessary. The extra cost due to the
additional weight involved isn’t worth it, and wooden
crates don’t necessarily ensure the most careful
handling.
Packing Your Drive

11. Efficient Packaging for a Small Drive
Here is a cost-effective, safe way to ship a
small (less than 150 pound) final drive to us
for repair, rebuilding, or remanufacture.
Here’s what you need to do:
1. Get a 5 gallon commercial plastic grade
bucket, and remove the wire handle.
2. Cut a ¾” thick plywood circle to fit in the
bottom of the bucket.
3. Place the circle in the bottom of the
bucket.
4. Place your final drive on top of the
plywood circle. This provides some
additional support for your drive.

recommended.
6. Put another ¾” thick plywood circle

secure it place.
7. Put the lid on, and duct tape it
