2. What is Gentleness?
It is the quality of being kind, tender, or mild-mannered
softness of action or a personal quality which can be part of
one's character. It consists in kindness, consideration and
amiability & meekness
3.
4. Gentleness in the bible means showing care and respect for
others in the way that you act and speak.
6. Jesus is our example of gentleness
Matthew 11:28-29
Jesus models gentleness to us by calling all of
those who are tired and suffering to find rest in Himself.
He gently lead us, like a shepherd with His sheep.
7. The Lord is My Shepherd
Psalm 23
God guides us with His gentle love.
Psalm 23 might be the most famous Psalm in the Bible! It also gives us a beautiful picture of how God is so gentle with us.
“He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul.”
—let’s go deeper how gentle love grows in our family. Jesus site an example with us, to our parents, specially to mothers.
(A Mother love is a true reflection of God’s love on earth)....there’s no safer haven than a gentle mother arms. A mother takes good
care of her young from the womb, a gentle love since birth, then she saw her child hanging on the cross to save the humanity from
sin. A perfect example of two gentle kindness of a mother and a child. This kind act of gentleness is a product of love pass from
parents to their children. Philippians 4:5 Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. and your minds in Christ
Jesus.
8. Deeper study
What did Jesus mean when He said, “Woman, behold your son” on
the cross?
The third saying, recorded in John 19:26–27, expresses the Lord’s care and concern for His mother: “When Jesus saw his
mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, ‘Woman, here is your son,’ and to the disciple,
‘Son,Here is your mother.’ From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.”
Despite His excruciating physical agony, Jesus was concerned about the welfare of His mother and the pain she was
experiencing. With His thoughts on Mary’s future security and protection, Jesus entrusted her into the care of John, His
beloved disciple.
A symbolic meaning can be drawn from Jesus’s words “Woman, behold your son.” Establishing the family of God was at
the heart of Christ’s mission and ministry. THUS PARENTS, we should be gentle to our children, and to us children we
should be gentle to our parents.
9. Casting the First Stone
John 8:1-11
This familiar story about Jesus gives us a beautiful picture of gentleness, especially when contrasted with the behavior of the Pharisees. One
day while Jesus was teaching, the Pharisees brought in a woman who had been caught in adultery.
The Pharisees wanted to stone the woman, but Jesus stepped in and said “let him who is without sin cast the first stone.” Jesus was responding
with gentleness toward the woman, and showing everyone there that they were guilty of sinning as well. He wasn’t harsh or mean about it,
but rather he led with gentleness and compassion—setting an example for the Pharisees, and for us. (Sometimes brothers, we should not be
judgemental, or harst to anyone who has an error, but instead simply gentle to them soon they will realize based on our act of kindness to
them ..reverse psychology )..if they throw you stone throw them bread, this is an ultimate act of gentleness and kindness.
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience.
Colossians 3:12 (NIV)
10. A Gentle Answer
Proverbs 15:1
This is one of the most quoted proverbs from the Bible – “A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up
anger.” It spells out exactly how we should speak to others, and if we look back to the story about Jesus in John 8, we can
easily see how he used a soft answer when the Pharisees chose a harsh word.
Related Verse: A tree gives us fruit, [gentle] words give us life. Proverbs 15:4a (ICB)
Proverbs 15 :: NIV. A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise commends
knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly. The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked
and the good.
11.
12. 10 ways we can show gentleness
1. Be considerate of others’ feelings and needs. When we do this we can then look for ways to meet those needs, and truly help work
through those feelings.
2. Show empathy. Empathy is acknowledging another person’s point of view, to understand their feelings.
3. Be Patient. As Ephesians 4:2 says, “Be patient with each other, making allowances for each other’s faults because of your love.”
(NLT)
4. Remember the Golden Rule: Treat others the way you would like to be treated.
5. Speak respectfully to everyone. Consider others as important and worthy of kind regard. Watch your tone so that what you have to
say will be well received.
6. Seek peace. Search for solutions and common ground
7. Be a calm presence.
8. Act with tenderness and love.
9. Listen more than you speak or act (James 1:19).
10. Be humble as you serve and care for others.
13. How to get a gentle and quiet spirit?
Matthew 7:7
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye. shall find; knock, and it shall
be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that
seeketh. findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
14. So therefore, a gentle person has great power
—the power to comfort, strengthen, encourage, calm, and soothe;
the power to turn away anger and find restoration;
the power to have the truth heard.
