When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? </li></ul><ul><li>Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor. (Psalm 8, cf Heb 2) </li></ul>

Jesus the humble one <ul><li>“ So if there is any encouragement in Christ , any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind , having the same love , being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves . Let each of you look not only to his own interests , but also to the interests of others. </li></ul><ul><li>Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but made himself nothing (emptied himself, made himself low) , taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.” (Phil. 2:1-8) </li></ul>

  11. 11. What is humility? <ul><li>Pride is the way of the World, the Flesh, and the Devil. </li></ul><ul><li>Humility is the way of Christ and is Spirit enabled. (Eph 4:1) </li></ul><ul><li>Pride is the encouragement to compare ourselves with other people. </li></ul><ul><li>Humility is comparing yourself with Jesus Christ. </li></ul>

What is humility? <ul><li>Pride covets the success of other. </li></ul><ul><li>Humility celebrate, rejoices in other peoples success </li></ul><ul><li>Pride is about me. </li></ul><ul><li>Humility is about Jesus and about others. </li></ul><ul><li>Pride is about my glory. </li></ul><ul><li>Humility is all about Jesus, and His glory alone. </li></ul>

Humility toward others <ul><li>Ten practical steps </li></ul><ul><li>Follow truth wherever it leads. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Wear you learning lightly. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Invite, even pursue correction & godly rebuke. </li></ul><ul><li>Learn from everyone- even your enemies. </li></ul><ul><li>Repent quickly and thoroughly </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Saying sorry isn’t just for people ‘lower’ than you. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Seek out and celebrate God’s work in others. </li></ul>
