2. In 2006 I was affected by the closure of one of NZ’s largest tube mills and value-add production facilities. At that point it became clear to
me that western-based industry would be increasingly exposed to the pressures of competing with Asia-manufactured products and
services. At that point the idea of Linkeight Ltd was founded.
Linkeight identified a gap in the market to assist Western-based manufacturers. Identifying highest-cost components or processes
(typically high in labour content) and providing a secure, fast and cost-effective route into Asia. Resulting in reducing component costs
and helping manufacturers remain competitive within their respective markets.
Linkeight is potentially your Asia based manufacturing partner.
Behind the Scenes Linkeight is backed by three family shareholders:
• Ken Robbie: Based in Shanghai, China since 1985. Specialises in textiles – Hosery, Handbags and Socks
• Ron Robbie: Based in NZ, Hawkes Bay. Specialises in processing animal by products – Casing’s export
• Stu Robbie: Based in NZ, Dunedin. Specialises in manufacturing wooden furniture – Rockers, Tub benches
Linkeight meaning: “Link” - The conduit between East Asia and Western countries. “Eight” – Considered to be a lucky number in most
Asia cultures. “Eight” – The No.8 wire mentality that we as kiwi’s uphold.
