A previously used text-based search engine
resulted in a disappoin ng return of 35% of all
inquiries as “zero results found”. Accordingly,
the bounce rate was rela vely high and the
conversion rate low.
Hirmer had set itself the goal of improving the
search quality and op mize the search response
me to minimize customer churn and increase
conversion rates. In addi on to the search
results, Hirmer wanted to enhance the shopping
experience and thus increase the average order
value. Their requirements included dynamic lter
op ons, an auto-complete with an auto-suggest
func on using state of the art algorithms to
yield the best set of search results.
With the Hirmer project the special challenge
was to improve the quality of the search while
oering customers an interac ve shopping
experience that would match the expert advice
given to visitors to their bricks and mortar store.
Hirmer’s customers had the highest
expecta ons of service and this had to be
reected in their online experience.
The Objective
The simple solu on was to approach Celebros
and to employ their conversion technologies
with an emphasis on their conceptual seman c
site-search, powered by 250 Natural Language
Processing algorithms. This would provide
Hirmer’s visitors with the fastest most accurate
results in the industry and allow poten al
customers to nd products they wanted using
their own unique language and search terms.
The new search solu on for Hirmer has been
developed to understand the true meaning - the
concept - behind each search query. Celebros
developed a search engine which recognizes the
size and color in complex queries; for example
"Grey pants in size 36", and delivers relevant
results for each variable every me.
The Solution
3. While most search solu ons would not be able to dieren ate
between product names and proper es in a search query (probably
returning the dreaded “Zero results found”), the search pla orm of

and provides accurate results. Not only that but it does it in the
industryrecord meoflessthan0.05seconds.
To further enhance the customer experience an auto-complete
feature was implemented in the Hirmer Online shop, where from just
the second character entered into the search box popular searches are
automa cally suggested. This feature allows Hirmer to recommend
addi onal related products and brands. The sugges ons are based on
thepopularityoftheproductsandbusinessgoalsoftheretailer.
