2. Embrace winter’s snow and
ice with a variety of activities
that can be performed by
the entire family. For
example, not all snowmen
need to be person-sized;
small children can
participate by making
villages full of miniature
snowmen. Enjoy making
snowmen and other options.
3. Ice Sculptures
Freeze water tinted with food coloring in
containers ranging from ice cube trays to muffin
tins to cake pans. When they are frozen and
everyone is ready to sculpt, gather up your
colorful building materials and start to sculpt
whatever strikes the fancy. Use trickles of room
temperature water as an adhesive to make blocks
stick together.
4. Find The Flag
Take a white strip of cloth and tie it to a
stick. Take turns planting the flag while
the others have their backs turned. Then
everyone else tries to find the flag. The
winner is the person who planted the flag
in the place that takes the longest to find.
This game requires and develops keen
powers of observation.
5. Pyramid
Knockdown
Instead of pelting each other with snowballs, set
up a pyramid of plastic cups, take aim, and take
turns letting fly. This take on a classic county fair
game will entertain for quite some time. It also
works on aim, coordination, and strength.
6. Ice Skating
Whether it takes place in a home-made
rink, a public pond with thick ice, or an
indoor skating rink, ice skating is an old
favorite that is a great workout and an
excellent bonding experience. Build
lasting memories and muscle control at
the same time. Get the blood flowing and
stay warm in the frosty air by gliding
around gracefully on ice.
7. Sledding Or
Tubing
Another classic winter activity enjoyed by the
whole family is downhill sledding or tubing. Sleds
come in a variety of shapes and styles, while tubes
are generally the classic innertube. Either way,
soaring down slick slopes is an adrenaline-raising
time for all.
8. Indoor
Activities
Arts and crafts are a fun bonding time
while seeking shelter from the frigid
weather outside. Make use of paper and
scissors, glue and glitter. Blizzards are a
great time to bundle up and read. Family
movie time is another option when the
weather outside is not so delightful.
