1. What are some of the ways to become a Critical Internet searcher?
- To become a critical internet searcher by starting off with a search engine, for
example, Google or yahoo. When searching the world wide web, you are the
librarian because you pick what you would like to read. One must be a master of
practical internet search strategy by following these easy steps: (1) keywords that
can identify what you are looking for, (2) isolate valuable sites through your
search engine, (3) skim to find what is useful in the sites, (4) bookmarks sites
that are useful for you, and (5) when your done, start over because you might
have missed something. Another strategy of reading online material that may
help a reader, one could use the SQ3R. The SQ3R includes: skimming through the
article, saving the article on your computer, surveying the article, coming up with
questions that will help guide your reading, reading the article in depth,
highlighting and taking notes, print out the article, and reviewing your notes.

- In the 21st
century, everyone is required to read to be able to lead a
productive and successful life. One could get involved around their
community by going to their locate elementary school and volunteer after
school to tutor.
b. What can you learn from Gary’s case about SQ3R and being a information
literate reader?
- Having dyslexia can hold back a person from understanding the material
completely. But by using SQ3R, the reader will understand the material
and be able to progress in the studies.
3. Explain the ways that you would use to conduct an information search.
- I would use a step-by-step search method. These steps are: Start with a keyword,
move to specialized keyword, use the electronic catalog to locate materials, and
browse through relevant books and articles.
