2014 P. Marneffei is a pathogenic fungus that is exclusive to South EastAsia. It is only found in
bamboo rats and humans with immunocompromised diseases (HIV, AIDs) and it can
cause a fatal lung infection. This research study created a detection assay to verify and
detectP. Marneffei in the insects using a polymerase chain reaction (PCR), gel
electrophoresis and DNA isolation method.
2013 Caffeine is a compound found in coffee, tea, various softand energy drinks, chocolate kola
nuts and certain medicines. The compound has many effects on the organism’s
metabolism, including stimulating the central nervous system. The study investigated the
differences in the amount of caffeine absorbed from coffee by two types ofactivated
charcoal using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Methylene blue dye
was used to estimate the surface area oftwo types ofcharcoal employed in the
decaffeination process.
