5. The tagline “We Are Not Waiting” was the result of
a group discussion at the first-ever DiabetesMine
D-Data ExChange event last November [2013] at
Stanford University.
Howard Look “The aim is to make diabetes data more
accessible, intuitive, and actionable… We’d like to get the data into a format
where it can help increase time in (glucose) range, and achieve fewer lows and better A1C.”
Lane Desborough “Companies that make physical components of (the diabetes) ecosystem
– sensors, pumps, smartphones, insulin, strips, cellular networks, cloud servers – will continue to survive
and thrive because these elements are necessary… The system will continue to comprise three essential
components: hardware, software, and wetware (humans). What will change is how – and how fast – these
systems will be developed. Closed, proprietary systems will die. Open,
standards-based, interoperable devices will thrive. The problem and its solution
will get closer in person, space, and time. “

Why we wanted NightScout! Our kiddo
wants more autonomy at school.
Today she wore her Pebble for the first
time. She navigated herself through
2 dropping blood sugars successfully
and stayed in range.
We just received a text from the school
nurse "this was a weird day for me I
didn't see her once."
#WeAreNotWaiting = one very happy
kid
Thanks to the cloud I just caught a 188 with two arrows up (she jumped 20+ points
in one reading). She wouldn't have checked it for at least another hour and who
knows what her number would have been by then. Instead a quick text and she's
steadying out a few minutes later. #wearenotwaiting
14. A1c was 7.4 today. Down
from 9.1, I credit Nightscout.
Told our Endo all about it and she was
impressed, had a million questions. I was
so excited to share! #WeAreNotWaiting
Thanks to Nightscout, some awesome
teamwork with our 11 year old daughter and
our pebble watches, we are pleased to
report our best A1C ever despite a
huge growth spurt! Feeling pretty
great and so proud of my girl!!!
LOWEST A1C I HAVE EVER
HAD IN MY 42 YEARS OF T1
Thank you! Thank you Nightscout developers! I just got back from an endo
appt., and for the first time in 34+ yrs of T1D, I have an A1c of
6.7! Finally got below seven! The Nightscout helped me rein in those
numbers to a more acceptable "surf". I hope to bring it down a little more.
Wonderful work you guys and gals!
15. We had a great check up yesterday at the Endo. Matched our
lowest A1C but this time without big lows. We we
were also the first patient they had seen with Nightscout. They
asked my husband to email them a summary of items needed and
how to set it up so they can spread the word … Another wonderful
day "in the cloud".
Just saw our endo and A1C down from 8.6 to 8.1,
woohoo! Almost back in the 7's I also spoke to the nurse
and Dr about Nighscout and they are talking to patients
about it but don't really understand it. So I said I will create
a flyer or handout they can have in all their rooms to pass
the info and spread the word. … #WeAreNotWaiting
Chase had his quarterly
endo appointment today.
We were able to show his
doctor Nightscout. He
loves it!
Best thing is Chases
a1c dropped
from 8.7 to 7.6!
Thank you Nightscout!

FIVE TWELVE.
512 (or %!@ when you leave caps lock on)
Holy %!@ That rocks.
I am confident that is the biggest turn out
of the diabetes community to any
draft docket FDA has ever seen. Why
does this matter?
â—Ź FDA has a clear understanding of patient
feelings about risk and CGM data.
â—Ź For the second time in 6 months our
community brought attention to a
diabetes issues through FDA dockets.
â—Ź This response was bigger than the last
showing increasing community interest
in working with FDA to improve the lives
of people with diabetes.

#DIYPS (see DIYPS.org) is now powering
our Nightscout predictions (in my IOB/COB
branch)! Here are some excellent
visualizations of it predicting & helping
Dana prevent a bad low without
overcorrecting, by recommending a 30m
temp basal to zero and then 10 carbs.

38. Dana M. Lewis After that small low earlier? No rebound, BGs
stayed in range and also did well after using #DIYPS to bolus for dinner.
Woot! Here's what happened at the start of the meal (staggered boluses).
About an hour later - one more small bolus suggested by #DIYPS
for the remaining carbs on board not yet absorbed.
End result - the overall mostly flat picture of that meal. I am predicted to be in range
heading into the night. #wearenotwaiting: we are working toward making this
possible for more people!
