MBA 592 Paper - The Analysis of the Federal Minimum Wage
Oklahoma workers compensation laws
1. Oklahoma
Workers
Compensation
Laws
The
laws
regarding
workers’
compensation
in
Oklahoma
have
change
with
recent
legislation.
The
current
system
is
changing
from
a
court-‐based
system
to
administration
control,
in
hopes
that
businesses
will
save
more
money
on
workers’
compensation
than
they
do
now.
Governor
Mary
Fallin
had
these
comments
regarding
the
legislation:
“For
decades,
Oklahoma
has
had
one
of
the
most
expensive
and
inefficient
workers’
compensation
systems
in
the
country,
a
constant
obstacle
for
business
owners
looking
to
expand
operations
or
create
more
jobs,”
Fallin
said.
“Senate
Bill
1062
completely
overhauls
our
flawed
workers’
comp
system,
dramatically
reducing
the
costs
to
businesses
and
freeing
up
private-‐sector
resources
that
can
be
invested
in
jobs
rather
than
lawsuits.”
While
Oklahoma
Republicans
were
mostly
in
favor
of
the
new
bill,
Democrats
were
in
opposition,
saying
that
the
supposed
savings
would
result
in
more
expense
for
workers
hurt
on
the
job.
Opposition
may
exist,
however,
the
law
is
changing
and
workers’
compensation
will
now
varying
among
businesses.
It’s
become
more
important
that
employees
understand
and
know
the
changes
their
business
is
taking
in
regards
to
the
compensation
they
will
offer
for
on-‐the-‐job
injuries
and
illness.
Oklahoma
workers’
compensation
laws
affect
everyone
in
every
profession
in
the
state.
Injury
can
happen
at
any
time
and
you
need
to
know
how
you
are
going
to
be
protected.
If
for
whatever
reason
you
find
yourself
in
a
predicament
regarding
a
workers’
compensation
case,
then
you
need
to
seek
legal
action.
At
Johnson
&
Biscone
in
Oklahoma
City,
we
focus
on
representing
employees
in
workers’
compensation
cases
and
understand
that
new
laws
will
cause
more
misunderstanding.
We’re
prepared
to
help
you
