2. We can fix this …
With a $2B+ market in play, imports are putting
American Made glass accessories out of reach of
buyers in an increasingly predatory landscape.
ApacheBlaze.com eliminates the barriers …
and, as a First Mover brand-play, gains advantages.
3. American Artists’ Barriers to Entry
How Etsy & PayPal Raided American Glass Stores (Source: Medium.com)
“Many American functional glass artists woke up today (August 15th, 2016) to find their stores shut down or digitally
“raided” by Etsy and PayPal. Store owners were no longer able to sell their wares on the platform. Artists report that
the terms and conditions put forth by PayPal forbid pipes, and with its market dominance, Etsy caved.

This will certainly have a dramatic impact on the independent artists and collectives who relied on the platform’s
services. Once again American financial institutions' practices and the regulations they have to follow are harming
the cannabis industry.
[…]
With imported glass of dubious composition flooding the market and no connection to the artists it’s “buyer beware.”

5. Differentiation
American Artisanal
“If a company does not have a brand, it’s a commodity”
Donald Trump
It's a given that brands are built on emotional foundations to create
loyalty. Budweiser did that with “we are Americana.” So much of what
Budweiser means to consumers is about being a hard-core American.

12. WHY? ABSURD PROFIT MARGINS
Price is the only leg the imported mass-produced industry has to stand on. With foreign
companies like Alibaba and DHGate at the helm, the overseas industry is mass producing glass
at incredibly low prices. While the methods used to produce these products may have ethical
implications, the result is a product that cheaply (and often dangerously) mimics high quality
American glass for a fraction of the cost. These dirt cheap pieces are then put in a catalog and
mass marketed to head shops in a convenient easy accessible catalog/website
These products are brought into the USA in bulk, and dishonestly declared to U.S. Customs
officials as "dishes" or "raw glass tubing" to avoid paying proper import fees on tobacco
products. It is very true that the grassroots glass community has had an incredibly hard time
competing on such an uneven playing field. Many retailers (storefront and online) have a
mark-up in excess of 900%.
It will be interesting to see what the recent entry of Amazon does to competitors. Historically,
that accelerates online take-up and Amazon clinches major share, while putting downward
pressure on margins. It will likely doom some competition. ApacheBlaze won’t be a target;
we don’t fit their warehousing model. Further, Amazon’s brand is the antithesis of ours.
Fortuitously for Apache Blaze and its investors, as world wide demand increases, diversity of
choices is diminishing. We offer the only and obvious alternative, already reasonably priced.
13. Product / Market Fit
“On time, high quality, AMERICAN MADE product. Support local businesses
and Veterans! Highly recommend.” Chris Ethington, Glen Carbon Illinois
“Apache Blaze knows their glass and besides their great selection it's
great knowing I'm supporting American artists and a veteran-owned
company!” Dustin Stockton, Roscoe New York
“Great website, I love the military collection! Great customer service and American
made as well! A winning combination! “ Billie Crum, Knoxville Tennessee
“ALL American made. Owned, operated by and stands in support of Veterans.
Promotes and supports our men and women who served this ALWAYS great
nation. Functional Art. NOT mass produced generic gas station junk. My
home will display Apache Blaze.“ Steve Evans, St. Charles Missouri
“DON'T BUY THAT CHEAP CRAP FROM CHINA. Buy the real American products.
Support our brothers & sisters here at home. The best place to see a wide
collection is at ApacheBlaze.com.” Lisa Farrand Kemp, Las Vegas Nevada

14. Defensibility
“The deeper the emotional attachment the
consumer has for your brand, the greater
its ability to weather challenges, changes,
or new competitors.”
- Mike Jaglois
Chief Brand Architect, Canna Ventures
“Mass advertising can help build brands,
but authenticity is what makes them last. If
people believe they share values with a
company, they will stay loyal to the brand.”
- Howard Schultz
Founding CEO Starbucks

16. Target Markets
They're tastemakers, vocal about brands they like, and influence
others within their sphere. These laid-back customers favor
fashionable, sexy, humorous, even naughty branding. There’s a
resentment of messages being pushed with a “hard sell.”
May use cannabis as an escape from their daily, disaffected life. They
embrace themes of affluence, intellectualism, adventure, self-
assuredness and creativity. The branding characteristic least preferred is
Affordable, the takeaway being Outsiders don’t want to be reminded of
their economic challenges.

“Marketing unearths buyers, however, Branding makes loyal customers, advocates, even evangelists.”
17. The other cannabis sectors are changing so rapidly
that what is a smart investment today, may not be in
even 6 months. That market, that category, that
state may not be the best place to put your money.
Play the cannabis market without a lot of risk
These old school, yet fresh and evolving, delivery
systems are never going to be made obsolete - not by
electronic vaporizers, not by topicals, not by edibles.
There is only growth.
Think of the original Gold Rush, who made money in that
market, guaranteed … the guy who sold picks, pans and
shovels.

18. “We believe all it takes is visibility and education.
People will get it. When they know the differences,
and given the opportunity, they buy American.”
Kim Paris
19. Thomas B. Kin Chong
“Checkmate stoners, we have captured your King!”
February 5, 2003 - Hundreds of businesses and
homes are raided as a result of Operation Pipe
Dreams, the code-name for a U.S. nationwide sting
operation, targeting businesses that sell pipes and
bongs. Tommy Chong is also ensnared, in one of the
most ineffective, politically motivated actions in the
history of government. He is sent to prison.
Lastly, on a personal note: The Legacy Matters
Already a nearly invisible subculture, that seminal event pushed underground even further our uniquely
American art form of functional glassblowing. Many artists and head shop owners lost everything.
But the tribe was not to be extinguished. Indeed, there’s a creative rebirth happening.
We feel a deep moral imperative to do our share to protect, promote and perpetuate this cultural inheritance.
