Jake Herd was a student at Gladstone Park Secondary College from 2008 until he completed Year 12
in 2013.
Jake made a significant contribution to the College in his time at Gladstone Park. During his final
year, Jake was selected as one of the four school captains. He represented the College at numerous
functions and represented his fellow students through his involvement on School Council.
During Year 11, Jake along with 3 other students represented the College in a Mooting Competition
at La Trobe University. Their team won the competition.
During Year 12 Jake completed Psychology at University level. He was one of the high achiever
students at Gladstone Park, obtaining an ATAR of over 90.
Jake’s teachers described him as conscientious, hard-working, intelligent and mature. Jake worked
independently but also worked well with others; he was a regular contributor to class discussions
and activities but did not dominate; he allowed others the opportunity to contribute.
Jake was willing to seek assistance and act on advice. He was interested in content and willing to ask
wider questions in order to further develop his understanding and knowledge of content.
Overall Jake is ambitious without being pushy or dogmatic and could be described as reliable,
trustworthy and diligent.
