standards are set expectations
that society says are allowed.

Kim Kardashian body. These expectations
are unrealistic.

4. In this article it says,“ the definition of beauty has
continued to expand, making room for women of
color, plus size women, skin diseases, women
with wrinkles and bald women”.

true.The social issue of
body image and beauty
standards has some hate
however, like I said
before it is evolving into
positivity.

8. This article talks about
how body types have
changed over the years.
In the year of 1930- 1950
women have curves,
hourglass figures and a
slim waist.

9. Now in the 20th century, the
beauty and image standard is
skinny, thigh gaps and large
bust and butt.

10. My question for you is why was it okay to
have curves in the 1930’s but not in
today’s world? When women have curves
they are “ fat shamed” and when they are
too skinny then they are bullied.

editor of Vogue it says, “ the
fashion industry is a thin
obsessed culture in which
starving models eat tissues
and resort to surgery when
dieting isn’t enough”.

was done and
the results said
that 40% of
models suffer
from an active
eating disorder.

reasons why
eating
disorders are
developed is
because of
social pressure.

made the cover of
sports illustrated in
2016 as the first
ever plus sized
bikini model in
history.

her body, the fashion
industries are evolving.
Many stores now have plus
size lines and being plus
sized is becoming more
normalized.

for the younger generations?

17. As I am apart of the
younger generation I
would say that I feel
the need to keep up
with the trends. Due
to body image and
beauty standards
having such a impact
on society, I am afraid
that if I don’t look like
how society wants me
too then I won’t fit in.

have grown to
be okay if I
stand out from
others. This
world would be
boring if
everyone
looked the
same.

are aging.
