2. Ru Paul’s drag race
Ru Paul’s Drag Race first aired on the 2 February 2009 and is an annual
show meaning one season per year, now on its 13th season. is a reality
tv show with an original concept in which Drag queens compete
against one another doing various challenges such as runway looks,
imitating celebrities for fake game shows and more each week, and are
tested on whether they stay in the competition or not based on how
they preform over all each week. The cast is always diverse, each
contestant covering all different places in the world. Each contestant is
given an introduction which shows off what kind of performer they are
as well as giving indication to what they are like as a person as well as
there personality, additionally they are usually asked to provide
commentary for each runway look as well as there experience during
each week. Although the show as a concept is relatively simple it is
incredibly impactful to all those in the lgbtq as well as those who may
not be comfortable in there own skin. Ru Paul provides many business
opportunities for all as they gain a lot of popularity through the show.
It follows many media conventions along with plenty shot types. Finally
guest celebrity appearances are a relatively common occurrence in
Drag Race, such as: Chaka Khan, Jeff Goldblum, ,Miley Cyrus and Ross
Mathews. The show can be found on sky and Netflix.

3. Kitchen Nightmares
Kitchen Nightmares first aired on the 19th September 2007. It is a
reality show hosted by famous chef Gordon Ramsey. It entails Gordon
visiting struggling restaurants for reasons such as poor food, services,
location etc. He is introduced to the staff and is presented the food
served at the bar/restaurant. He makes an assessment and judging
based on his experience he decides whether to take action or not. The
show follows typical media conventions including: title cards,
introductions, a moments where the members of staff/ owners give an
insight to the origin of the restaurant, why they need help as well as
there financial situation and their experience… All with close ups and a
small musical score in the background. Gordan Ramsey learns of the
struggling companies as they email him for help and agree to be on
the show. This has lead to incidents such as a restaurant attempting to
accuse Gordan of leaving a dead rat at the door for publicity, and
owners arguing back at Gordan almost initiating in physical conflict.
These 7 seasons then ultimately lead to the creation of the spin off
show Hotel Nightmares which has run for 3 seasons as off now, it is
available on prime video and on sky.

4. SAS: Who dares win
The show entails 5 ex-special forces soldiers bringing on 30 individuals and
putting them through the same extreme training that they had to go through
to see who has the physical and psychological determination and capacity.
The show brings together an array of different demographics and groups, the
ideology being that it doesn’t matter who you are its about what you can do.
Close up shots are often used of shaking limbs and the reactions of the
contestants to embellish a sense of real emotion, enhancing the reality and
the connection the audience form towards the contestants as they have
‘confessionals’ where they tell their story of why they do this and give
personal details as to why they are confident or scared of certain challenges.
The show follows a rough and gruelling aesthetic to fit with the mise en scene
of run down accommodation, grey skies and cold seas.
