Introduction
Friction in a work place is a normal situation.
People working in a team have different personalities.
Age difference is one of the key reason for the friction in our
company.
The Baby Boomers
They are between 50Years and 70
Years Old.
They are committed to their
work.
They work very hard more than
Millenials.
They are reliable to the employer
Millenials
These are usually below 35 years.
They are the freshmen from college.
They are very energetic.
They areTechnology fanatics.
They are also very educated.
Only reliable during working hours
and days.
DrawingThe Line
With such a mixed team, boundaries must be
established.
The Millenials must learn to respect the elderly.
The elderly must learn to put up with the Millenials.
Everyone must stick to their responsibilities.
There must be reasonable distribution of leadership
roles.
Breaks such as tea breaks should be allocated the
same timing for all employees.
Team building activities can be organized to allow
bonding.
There must be boundaries for the use of technology at
work
Conclusion
It is not easy to please everyone at work.
People have different personality.
Without mutual understanding, friction is possible.
Understanding each others weaknesses and strengths can lead
to a better cohesive working environment.
A commendable HR strategy to work friction is harmonizing
the age differences in an organization by reasonable spreading
of responsibilities.
