The presentation answers the following question: If all of the world´s cultural heritage (sports, music, fashion, architecture, literature, painting, etc..) was contained in a time capsule, what would you include to demonstrate the legacy of your country?
1. Venezuela has a very rich culture that could be included in a time capsule as a legacy of its people and
traditions. The most significant elements for me are:
Venezuela’s Cultural Heritage
2. The beautiful music of Simon Diaz who is an emblematic
symbol of Venezuela’s music history. He was a singer, musician,
composer, poet, humorist, caricaturist and Venezuelan
businessman. He stood out in many of the typical musical
genres. So many songs were performed by this memorable
man such as “La Vaca Mariposa”, “Sabana”, “Mi Querencia” and
“Caballo Viejo”. He died on February 19th 2014 but he is still an
icon of the Venezuelan music and tradition.

3. The Dancing Devils of Yare (Los Diablos Danzantes de Yare in Spanish) is a religious festival
celebrated in San Francisco de Yare the day of Corpus Christi. This tradition is characterized by the
use of very unique masks and instruments such as drums to dance around the town. This ritual is
based on the worshiped of the Blessed Sacrament and the triumph of good over evil.

4. The University City of Caracas (Ciudad Universitaria de Caracas
in Spanish) is an example of modern architecture. It has
together a different buildings and pieces of plastic arts. The
most important parts are: the Aula Magna, with its acoustic
clouds created by Alexander Calder. The Olympic Stadium with
its sports emblematic statues. The Covered Plaza with its
sculptures and murals. Finally, the Central University of
Venezuela (Universidad Central de Venezuela, UCV, in Spanish)
designed by Carlos Raul Villanueva.

5. Last but no least, are all the delicious types of food that can be
eaten in Venezuela. An example of this is the Hallacas, a typical
Christmas food made with corn flour seasoned with chicken
and pigmented with onoto; stuffed with a stew of beef, pork
and chicken to which are added olives, raisins, and onions;
wrapped in a rectangular shape in leaves of banana to finally
be tied and boiled in water. This is a meal mostly eated on
Christmas Eve’s dinner.
