Hello,
My name is Ijah Jablonski. I am a graduate student working towards obtaining my
masters in mental health counseling at Capella University. I am inquiring about
possible practicum and/or internship placement. Struggles growing up with
attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, as well as my battle with anorexia nervosa as
a teenager have had a large impact on my desire to work in the counseling field. My
philosophy is that every client is unique and should be treated as such. Every
individual has the capacity to make changes that will increase their life satisfaction. I
look forward to learning from the licensed counselors on staff while further
enhancing my professional growth and development in the counseling field.
I can bring the following skills and attributes to your organization:
Multiple years of volunteer experience working with children and adults.
-worth.
counseling skills, developmental psychology, statistics and
research methods, family and relationship counseling, and crisis counseling.
regard, helping to build a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship with
clients.
Capella University’s terms are quarters, as opposed to semesters. I am able to work
throughout my three week breaks in between quarters. I am available any day or
night as my work schedule is flexible. I will begin fieldwork in January and need to
complete 100 hours (40 direct) for practicum and 600 hours (240 direct) for
internship.
The site supervisor needs to hold a full license to practice therapy independently in
his/her state as any of the following: professional counselor, licensed clinical social
worker, marriage and family therapist or licensed psychologist. Site supervisors
must have two years of pertinent professional experience in student’s program area
and must have relevant training or education in counseling supervision. Capella
offers a free 1.5 hour CEU supervision training course to prospective supervisors.
I would like to set up a time to share my portfolio with you to further demonstrate
my experience, passion, and drive in the counseling field. I appreciate your
consideration and look forward to speaking with you.
Best Regards,
Ijah Jablonski
