1. ORGANIZATION
COMMUNICATION:
ASSIGNMENT 1
3 BARRIERS THAT ATTRIBUTE TO COMMUNICATION FAILURE IN ORGANIZATIONS
NAME: IFFA IZZATI ROSLAN (IVA)
ID: 0121027
FILM: SAFE AS YOU THINK (1950)
TIME: 26:45 (10 MINUTES)
2. ATTITUDINAL BARRIERS
• Attitudinal barriers are when someone acts or behaves in a way that it prevents people
from having a proper communication with an unpleasant or unwanted response.
• As the machine had some technical issues, the employee had observed and realized
that it is dangerous to try and fix manually without proper tools.
• He had provided his coworker with caution that the machine was faulty and that it
was not safe to be used.
• When his coworker ignored his advice and try to work on it anyway because he
thought he was capable of fixing it.
• (Movie scene: 16:35 – 17:23)
3. SOLUTION
• The employee should respect the professionalism and the
information that has been provided to his coworker however
he should have used appropriate tools or called for
professional help from the technical support team.
4. PHYSICAL BARRIERS
• Physical barrier is to insure well communication is being maintained through
distance whether its face to face from a sender to its receiver.
• All new employees weren't given proper plant safety rules until the corporation
has opted to act towards the safety of their employees.
• Without technical support from their supervisors their information on the job that
has been provided to them would be hard to achieve as it has incomplete links to
full knowledge about the process.
• (Movie scene: 20:00 – 21:15)
5. SOLUTION
• The employees should be well thought and guided by their
seniors and supervisors as it will help them understand and
achieve the goal that are set for them. However, physical
communication is very vital and plays a huge supporting role
in perfecting ones work and confidence so communication and
technical support must be well maintained.
6. PSYCHOLOGICAL BARRIERS
• Psychological Barriers in communications shows how a message sent or received
can influence a persons judgment or how they feel about the certain matter and
react to it.
• The person George Potter has been very careless and has made a mistake which
led to an accident which unfortunately shows no signs of escape.
• He has learned from his mistake but time is not on his side as his fate awaits him
as soon as the time frame is resumed which has been paused to only show
George only if he would have followed safety rules.
• (Movie scene: 22:40 – 25:16)
7. SOLUTION
• It is always advised to have a calm mind and handle work with
proper manner. Carelessness only leads to trouble and to
discover that it will only affect the person in an unwell manner
it tends to influence their emotion and acts. It should be dealt
with proper help either from a professional or an adviser. To
avoid decisions that will be regretted in the future.
8. CONCLUSION
• Communication is not just a one-way street. If you want
someone to open up to you, you must be willing to open up to
someone, understood what they are saying and accept their
opinions too even though you disagree with that particular
person.

Editor's Notes
The film stresses the need for 'safety consciousness' in the minds of all of us at home, in school, on the job, or in the street. It does so by dramatizing the ridiculous chances we all take every day just to save a few seconds, how we risk life and limb on odds that no professional gambler would bet on.
