The Kanadi Kuttichathan Kavu is the most holy and ancient Vishnu Maya Temple in the state of Kerala providing relief to sorrows and showering blessings and prosperity to all the devotees irrespective of caste, creed or religion. This temple having many epics and with rare historical importance is situated 20 km South-West of Thrissur in Peringottukkara, a land made sacred by the foot prints of many great sages.
2. KANADIKAVU VISHNUMAYA
Kanadikavu is the one of the best vishnumaya temple in Kerala . Kanadikavu
vishnumaya temple is located at western side of the Thrissur district known as
peringottukara. Peringottukara , a small holy land with lot of temples.Vishnumaya is
also known as kuttichathan. Human life is nothing but a medley of aspirations, fears
and afflictions.We look for fulfillment and solace in temples and other places of
worship. Legend has it that Konnamuthappan, a great seer and sage, realized that a
powerful deity’s presence and blessings was required for the well being of humanity.
He prayed to his family deity who appeared before him and advised him to please
LordVishumaya Kuttichathan swamy, the son of Sree Parameswaran and
Adiparashakthi.The Goddess advised him the moola manthra to pray and appease
LordVishnumaya Kuttichathan.The sage then went to the Himalayas and performed
severe penance, which pleased the Kuttichathan Swamy and he accompanied the sage
to Peringottukara. SreeVishnumaya Kuttichathan was invoked and installed at Kanadi.
3. KANADIKAVU VISHNUMAYA
The members of Kanadi family have since been dutifully carrying out the sacred
responsibility of veneration and adulation of Lord Vishnumaya Chathan Swamy,
for more than ten generations. The present chief priest of Kanadikavu Sree
Vishumaya Kuttichathan Swamy temple, who is also the oldest male member of
the Kanadi family, Brahmasree Vishnubharatheeya Swami, along with his four
sons, are the custodians of this temple. The chief priest with his immense
knowledge on Chathan worship, gained from years of intense spiritual discipline
and oblations, guides the devotees and those seeking the blessings of Sree
Vishnumaya Chathan, through the right means to attain his benevolence.
4. KANADIKAVU VISHNUMAYA
There are other temples by this name at Peringottukara, but theVishnumaya
temple of Kanadikavu is famous for the worship of SreeVishnumaya Chathan, as
the Kanadi family have been involved in the worship and `seva’ of Sree
Vishnumaya Chathan for generations in the service of humanity. Konnamuthappan
invoked and installed Chathan’s entity at Kanadi where a temple was built to
worship SreeVishnumaya Kuttichathan alongwith 390 other kuttichathans who
emerged from SreeVishumaya Chathan during a fierce battle with the evil
Brungasuran.
