Hampton Luzak holds a bachelor's degree in American Studies and was formerly assistant to the creative director at BBDO. As a resident of Jackson, Wyoming, Hampton Barringer Luzak regularly participates in winter sports such as skiing and snowboarding. Originally created as a means of transportation during the winter, skiing is a winter sport that involves gliding or moving across snow-covered plains. The two main types of skiing are Alpine and Nordic, or cross-country skiing. Though similar in the sense that they are winter sports and performed essentially on snow, alpine and nordic skiing differ in many ways. Firstly, Nordic skiing was invented as a means for Nordic people to move about in the winter. As a result, Nordic skiing is performed on flat terrain. Developed from Nordic skiing, alpine skiing involves going down a slope or mountain. Another thing that distinguishes both forms of skiing is the equipment. Nordic skiers wear skis that are attached to the front of their feet without metal edges. On the other hand, Alpine skiing equipment features two skis controlled by the use of ski boots attached to the skis by bounding.
