4. Why Rishi Dayanand
• Among Dayananda's contributions were his promoting of the equal rights
for women, such as the right to education and reading of Indian scriptures,
and his commentary on the Vedas from Vedic Sanskrit in Sanskrit as well
as in Hindi.
• He was one of the first to stop child marriage.
• He also was the first to start widow remarriage in India and stopping Sati
pratha.
• He also emphasized that India needs to be awakened from the deep sleep.
Basically, if he was not born then we could not see first war of
Independence and hence our nation could not be free.
5. Initial Life
• Born in the ordinary family of a priest on 12 February 1824 in
"Tankara" Village (Kathiawad) of Gujarat.
• Original name:-Mool Shankar Tiwari
• Parents:-Karshanji Lalji Kapadi and Yashodabai.
• Life Changing Incident:-Shiv ratri- Fast- Statue –Rats- Shock-

• Told his mother to search Moksha. Father decided to marry
him.
• Tried to left his home 2 times.
6. Education and Searching of real mentor
• He went to many areas and listened to saints.(For 15 years). Got the name "Dayanad
Sarswati" from "Purnanad"
• Did all what they said. But was not Satisfied.
• Performed Yoga and other exercises daily in various places to make his body healthier.
• Met with Yogis, Saints, Sadhus, Tapaswis, lecturers, Akhadas, Cultural heads. But didn't
found anyone satisfied.
• At end in Mathura he found a blind guru named "Virjanand"(Sayings that he was quite strict
teacher, no simple person can live with him). Studied under his guidance and completed all
education in just 3 years.
7. Life changing Promise
• At the time of Gurudakshina. Dayanand gave 1 pot of Coriander but Virjanand rejected it and asked for a
promise.(Promise was to make his life dedicated to the people of India... Protect them and re-establish
Vedic Period)
• He did the same. He firstly read all 4 "Vedas" in a small span of 4 years.
• Went to Haridwar for Kumbh Mela and compared all the religious books with Vedas and compared them
based on common logics.
• Many people became their enemies, and many became their followers.
• Teaches to many people in many assemblies and meetings.
• Debate of Varanasi is a such a big event. Wherever he goes people went to listen him in a large volume.
9. Ending Life
He went to Jodhpur as he got to know that administration of the region is corrupt.
The king falls in love with a dancer and forgets to serve his people.
Rishi Tried to teach him and slowly he was on the path.
One day he gave hands to the "doli" of that dancer. To which Rishi asked him not to do the
same in future as he is a king and he should respect his position. These comments put the
dancer on fire. She planned to kill Rishi.
She called Rishi's cook and gave him money to kill him. Cook did the same and put the
crunches of glass in his milk leading to internal bleeding in intestine.
Rishi called cook and asked him about the same. After knowing the truth he gave money to
cook so that he can escape to Nepal.
After then he became very ill and died due to same reason.

life on 30th
October 1883.
