Verizon Wireless is a leading global wireless
telecommunications power. The corporate and industry
growth was strongly mirrored in North Georgia, where new
cell sites were a strategic necessity. Strong demand in
densely populated urban areas of Atlanta, Georgia created
new creative cell site solutions.
The church is located on one of the most highly traveled
streets and high income areas in the city of Atlanta making
esthetics a priority. Bullock managed the design, installation
and construction of the underground cell site that is
completely hidden from outside view to the public and inside to
the church congregation.
The cell equipment is located underground on a small area of
land adjacent to the cathedral and the antenna lines run from the
underground shelter to the Cathedral and alongside the pipe
organ air tubes in the Cathedral’s core shafts up into the towers
highest level. The towers copper louvers were removed and
reconstructed in fiberglass so the radio signal would propagate
through them. The new fiberglass louvers were camouflaged to
replicate patinaed copper and matched perfectly with the other
remaining copper louvers. The entrance to the underground shelter is hidden by landscaping and
contoured grading to match the terrain.
This site provides high volume service to Verizon Wireless subscribers and has been a strong
revenue producer since it’s’ placement in service.
