The GFA To Unveil New Vision After Successful Strategic Planning
Workshop
Monday 10th October, 2016-St. George’s-
A refreshed mission and exciting new vision will all form part of a transformed
Grenada Football Association in the coming months.
This revitalization follows a successful Strategic Planning workshop at the
Radisson Beach Resort (September 30-October 2nd). The workshop was led by
Consultant Kenny MacLeod and attended by FIFA Development Officer Howard
McIntosh and FIFA Technical Development Officer for the Southern Caribbean
Anton Corneal.
The workshop involved brainstorming and prioritizing the areas that need urgent
reorganization to take Grenada’s football to the next level. Presently, Grenada is
ranked 156th in FIFA, and 19th in CONCACAF and the new vision is aimed at not
only improving the rankings but all aspects of the game.
Youth and Women’s Football, National Teams, Revenue Generation
(sustainability) and Competitions were identified as part of seven key pillars to be
discussed with stakeholders with the aim of transforming the GFA.
GFA President Cheney Joseph committed himself to the process and expressed his
excitement about the new vision. He said quote, “I look forward to take this new
vision to our stakeholders, hear their thoughts, secure their inputs and celebrate by
fulfilling all those plans. I think this workshop signals the start of a new GFA.”
FIFA Development Officer Howard McIntosh was equally excited about the new
direction of the GFA. “With the consultations that will take place, we really see the
possibility of a great plan being put together, that if everybody buys into it and if
everybody is committed and working together, then we will see the type of
development we all want to see.”
Following consultations, the GFA is working to have a final document in the
coming weeks, after which its new vision will be unveiled.
