Wednesday 20th
April, 2016-St. George’s-
Former national player and GFA Football Ambassador Marlon Glean recently
assisted in preparing more than 200 children for their entry into the world of
football. Last Saturday, Glean hosted a soccer clinic for boys and girls at the East
Greenbush Soccer Club in New York.
This is the second year that he has assisted in the children’s preparation for the
Club’s Recreational League which begins on April 30. The children who were
divided into four groups (Kindergarten and 1st
grade, 2nd
and 3rd
grade, 4th
and 5th
grade and 6th
grade and higher) were taught the fundamentals including ball control
and passing.
And for the first time this year, Glean was assisted by former Grenada National
Players.
The children were very excited to meet former National Player and six time Major
League Soccer All Star Shalrie Joseph and Grenada youth national player Chevy
Augustine who recently graduated from the University of South Carolina Aiken
with a degree in Biology. He received a scholarship to attend USCA through
Marlon Glean Soccer.
Other organizations providing support were coaching staff and players from the
University of Albany and Oneonta State University men’s soccer teams. Speaking
about the successful clinic, Glean said,”It’s always an honour to contribute to the
development of soccer.”Marlon Glean Soccer has been working with players and
teams across the United States for the past few years.
