Cassie Rennie Shines as Grenada Draws Against Nicaragua

“I am very proud of Cassie; another Rennie making her family and country proud. I
wish her and the team good luck.” The words of proud big brother and National
player Jake Rennie as he celebrated Cassie Rennie’s first international goal in the
CONCACAF U15 Girls Championship. It is a special family moment because
Cassie began training with her brother when she was 11.
Cassie, a student of the St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School, is excited about
her first goal. She said, “It was tough but I stayed focused until I saw the
opportunity. I am happy to make my family and country proud.”
Team Grenada played to a one all draw against Nicaragua on Tuesday at the ESPN
Wide World of Sports Complex – Orlando, Florida, USA.
The match was described as a thrilling display of teamwork and passion as the
Spice Princesses fought hard. Team Grenada was first to find the net thanks to a
calm finish by Cassie Rennie (45’). Four minutes later, the Nicaraguans equalized
through Yorcelly Humphreys (49’). This was the lone draw of the day.
Grenadian goalkeeper Resheda Charles was also described as outstanding by
CONCACAF staff writers. Looking back at the team’s performance, Head Coach
Agnieska Gatt said, “The team has worked very hard and has paid attention to their
technical and tactical training. I am very proud.”
The Spice Princesses will next face Puerto Rico on Friday 12th
August at 11am.
