HEADLINE: NetCommerce, Inc. Completes Acquisition of CurrentMedia LLC.
DATELINE: DALLAS, March 6, 2000
BODY:
NetCommerce, Inc. (OTCBB:NEET) (www.netcommerceinc.com) announced today that
it has completed the purchase of the assets of CurrrentMedia LLC (www.
currentmedia. com).
"This acquisition is a key component toward realizing our company's plan to
expand into several new metropolitan markets this year. In the process building
over 3,000 Web sites for businesses here in the Dallas area, we have gained a
tremendous amount of knowledge. We are now thoroughly prepared to duplicate, and
I believe improve upon, the success our company has experienced in Dallas by
expanding into new cities," said Mark Lindberg, CEO of MetroplexWeb.
Beginning in March, MetroplexWeb, a wholly owned subsidiary of NetCommerce,
Inc. and the Web design marketing entity (www.metroplexweb.com), will target the
59,000 businesses located in the greater Salt Lake City area with a
concentrated, database managed sales campaign. CurrentMedia will integrate
into MetroplexWeb's Salt Lake City expansion by providing an office facility, a
sales team, Web content developers, Web site hosting capability and network
consulting expertise.
CurrentMedia specializes in Windows NT and the BackOffice applications:
Internet Information Server, Exchange Server, Site Server, Proxy Server and SQL
Server. The company's installations have included The Park Record Newspaper,
Frontier Bank FSB of Park City and First Western Mortgage Services.
CurrentMedia manages all network operations for these clients ranging from Web
services, group messaging, Internet connectivity, UNIX host to PC connectivity
and network security. CurrentMedia maintains 4 NT servers providing Web, email
and database connectivity to customers on 2 T-1 lines. CurrentMedia recently
developed ParkCityOnline, a community Web site for the Park Record Newspaper.
This Web site featured online access to news stories, an SQL database restaurant
guide to over 100 restaurants, a database directory of hundreds real estate
agents and offices, online voting and polling of community issues, online
subscription services and more.
"We believe this acquisition makes sense for NetCommerce because
CurrentMedia can accelerate MetroplexWeb's entry into the Salt Lake market by
giving MetroplexWeb an immediate market presence and an existing client base on
which to build. Plus, we already have the technical personnel capable of
delivering and supporting sophisticated online applications," says Greg Cannon,
founder and CEO of CurrentMedia. Mr. Cannon came to this business with 20
years experience in the photography and advertising industry. For 12 years, he
operated a successful photo studio in New York City studio shooting fashion and
product advertising for clients including Revlon, Cartier, Sundance, Sotheby's,
AT&T and Canada Dry. His catalog work includes Bergdorf Goodman, Mark, Fore &
Strike, Boston Proper, Royal Silk and JCPenney.
